We were delighted to welcome to Xinjiang Dr Jutta a dentist from Berlin. Jutta was able to help children from 2 orphanages with much needed dental treatment. She performed many fillings & extractions on children who had never before been to see a dentist.

Peng Peng captures the hearts of all who meet him. He has had the continual challenge of hydrocephalus for all of his young life & yet remains cheerful & brave. Donations from supporters have funded the surgeries that Peng Peng has needed. He is now a very active little boy and is attending local preschool.

Our vision remains to reach the waiting children in China's orphanages. We are always ready for encounters that will challenge us to make a difference. We continue to meet children of extraordinary resilience & dignity, these children are our inspiration for the Good Rock mission - 'Free 2 B U' launched in 2002.

Since the launch of Free 2 B U we have seen many children's lives transformed after medical treatment & surgery. We are extremely blessed to have our own Dr on staff. Dr Regula Amiet now continues to offer her consultation from Switzerland. We also have excellent contacts with China's best hospitals and have been able to welcome other foreign experts for short term volunteer aid.

Therapy & Mobility the miracle of conductive education

Step By Step

Conductive education (c/e) is a form of physical therapy that consists of simple repetitive exercises & therapy along with persistent stimulation & encouragement. This treatment works miracles with children who are challenged with cerebral palsy & other special needs where the muscles are frozen or spastic.

We have been helping Xinjiang orphanages implement c/e since the year 2000 and orphanage workers readily embraced the concepts. The children's carers are keen to increase their skills & pass on this knowledge to their colleagues. The results are so encouraging....Many children can now sit, stand, feed & dress themselves, grasp toys & write......children who might never have walked can.

In the countryside in a far corner of China, time stands still & traditions remain unchanged. In early summer the pears grow white & crisp, in July the first of the watermelons the juiciest anywhere sprout from their tangled vines. In late summer it is the time of the grapes the sweetest & muskiest you will find & startling fields of sunflowers that go on for as far as the eye can see. Only in the dead of winter do the fields lay at rest. On the muddy roads you will see lone donkey carts with their padded drivers & patient mules ride past quiet homesteads, smoke from the chimneys show that the kangs indoors are heated for the families who will sit out much of the quiet cold winter days on their toasty platforms.

At Lunar New Year red banners hail blessings for health wealth & happiness & the villages once more come back to life.

Childrens Stories

Ji Ming Ting: Little precious little one has just received successful surgery to correct hydrocephalus. She is now back home with her foster family & is doing well. Director Wang sends her love & thanks for all the help the Good Rock supporters have given to Ji Ming Ting?

Huang Ming Zheng: Is now back home from his big adventure to Beijing to receive major corrective heart surgery. Soon after surgery Ming Zheng?'s oxygen supply improved & he was well on the way to recovery & being able to live the normal active life of a lively little boy.
