Transform
The workshops were taught by Cynthia Morse; a clinical social worker & counselor with over 25 years of experience. Cynthia most recently has been teaching clinical social work at university level in NE China & has taken several months sabbatical to work as a volunteer to help develop The Good Rock Foundation's sex education & self awareness for the disabled project. Some of the subjects tackled were Reactive Attachment Disorder, My Body, Good and Bad Touch & we all went away having created an 'About Me' book which helps self awareness and acceptance. The response from the caregivers who attended our workshops was overwhelmingly positive. They told us that by giving them the teaching and tools they felt enormously encouraged and better equipped to better reach the children to help them understand and accept themselves.
The day we launched the project China Daily published an article about sex education in China. This article focused on children with parents. Orphaned & abandoned children do not have the benefit of a family of their own, but they have us, their Good Rock family & we want them to live life to the full, knowing they are special, unique & worthy. Will you join us in being part of the Transformation? You can consider donating, fundraising or helping us find corporate sponsorship. Contact Jacqui at info@goodrock.org.uk |

Transform is Good Rock's newest project & reflects our passion to address the long term issues that China's orphaned &
abandoned children face. In response to requests from the orphanage caregivers in mid October we conducted our
first series of workshops training caregivers to teach sex education & self awareness to disabled children and young
adults. When we sent the invitations out we really did not know what the response would be. Is the subject of sexuality
& disability too controversial for China? How confident can we be that what we offer will be culturally relevant? Within
3 days the workshops were fully subscribed with delegates to attend from all of the orphanages we work with & by special
request delegates from mental health institutions too.
The Good Rock Foundation is presently conducting this project without budgeted resources. We believe that with the means
to help more caregivers better understand the needs of disabled orphans; we can continue to bring phenomenal improvements to
the lives of disabled orphans. We would be pleased to hear from anyone who can offer an introduction to corporate sponsorship
for this pioneer project.
